ImagineIT Phase 4
A connection that I've made to the book Stuck in the Shallow End by Jane Margolis is observing technology not being implemented to its fullest capabilities. After being exposed to the various Quickfires in the MSU Urban STEM fellowship, I have witnessed the importance of professional development for teachers that focus on bringing technology into the classroom. Teachers need to be exposed and experienced to the various computer applications available to enhance learning content and allow students to convey their conceptual understanding. An obstacle that I hope to overcome in the classroom is allowing students to use their cell phones to utilize the various applications to create and share their creations. Another obstacle I hope to overcome is choosing a medium in which students will share their creations, whether that be students opening a Twitter account or discovering another form of deliverance of their application creations from their cell phones and/or laptops. Overcoming these obstacles will allow my ImagineIT Project to be implemented with students creating models to convey their conceptual understanding of the content being taught.
